I need to confess that, as a long time resident of Fairfield, I have not visited The Ritz Café as much as I would like. I have always been impressed with the quick and friendly service, charmed by the fifties style décor, and enjoyed eating there with friends.

What really makes me rave about The Ritz Café is their smoothies. Served in the cutest glass goblets, the banana smoothie is thick, creamy and sweet and it has now become the reason I take friends to try the Ritz. My friend purchased the strawberry variety, and whilst it was a decent strawberry smoothie, I couldn't pass the banana.

They serve a wide range of food, from all day breakfasts (a personal favourite), to a range of lunches including toasted foccacias, burgers and sandwiches. I recently tried a bacon and egg roll, and was served similar to a baguette, white seeded bread with a gooey egg and rashes of bacon inside.

My friend ordered the big breakfast, a plate overflowing with bacon, eggs, hash browns, mushrooms and grilled tomato (in fact, I may have even left out a few featured breakfast items the plate was so full). It really was a two person job to get through all the food served. It was a good and classic breakfast dish.

They also serve great wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce, but I highly recommend waiting for them to cool before taking a bite.

I have never had to wait to be seated and food has always arrived promptly. Staff are friendly, but not overbearing. Tucked away in a little corner of Fairfield, Ritz Café is a great place for catching up with friends.
