A stay at home Mum who doesn't stay at home much; too many exciting things to be discovering in this city...
Have an Egg-cellent day at Rippon Lea this Easter
Are you looking for a great way to entertain the kids this Easter Sunday? Look no further than the Rippon Lea Easter Fun Day. This event has become a firm favourite with locals and those from further afield and provides a great day of entertainment for the whole family. It has been running for many years and combines the fun of an Easter Egg hunt with the beauty of the Rippon Lea mansion and gardens.
Little legs will get a workout exploring the Rippon Lea Estate
The main event is a huge easter egg hunt, suitable for children from two to twelve years. The best thing about the egg hunt is that it takes you all over the stunning gardens, searching for the Easter Bunny Team, who will be guarding the giant Rippon Lea eggs. Your efforts will be rewarded with chocolate eggs. Children will love exploring the little caves, bridges, waterfalls and leafy tracks that will ultimately lead them to their prize.
Beside the egg hunt, children can take part in a variety of other activities. These have varied from year to year, but this year include funfair rides and a jumping castle. You'll want to bring a picnic lunch which is best enjoyed overlooking the beautiful lake. In past years you have been able to take a rowing boat ride on the lake, but it is unclear whether or not this will be on offer this easter. The mansion itself will be open hourly and is a window into the past, showcasing life in the mansion when it was built in 1868.
Don't forget to look out for the Ripplea Bear as well, who will be making an appearance with Kerry the Koala. This event runs from 10am – 4pm on Easter Sunday. Tickets can be purchased on the gate, or bought in advance here. My family has had many enjoyable Easter Sundays at the Rippon Lea Estate and if the sun is shining, it's the place to go.
