[SECTION]Where The Wild Things Are[/SECTION]

Rio Tinto Naturescape is a children's adventure experience of a Mission Impossible nature. Instead of swings and slides, ice creams and hotdogs, kids make their own madness, Wild Things style in a bushland setting of hidey holes and creek beds designed to fire the imagination

[SECTION]Why Visit?[/SECTION]

It would be a sin to miss visiting this naturescape. It caters for prams and wheelchairs, small picnics and kids in the 5-12 year range, although older and younger children (and adults) have just as much fun.

If you are wondering why this is any different to popping out to the local bushland then be assured that it is no ordinary excursion. This is a hide and seek of the highest order with towers, climbing ropes, steel nests and tree-hides.

[SECTION]What Can I Do?[/SECTION]

Take a look at the menu. This park offers 'The Tangle', 'Prickly Thicket', 'Boomerang Bridge' and it's own wetland, where you are free to jump rocks, paddle, create dams and explore the waterway.

The Tangle

Think Spiderman and get ready for some serious fun. This zone is made up of ropes connected to upside down trees. Sometimes the rope will go up, sometimes down and sometimes there is nothing to hold on to except the rope that you are on.

Prickly Thicket

This zone caters to the bush builder. Supported by a steel nest structure, kids are encouraged to design and build natural cubbies with parrot bush. Treasures are stocked handily close by. You can go as far as your imagination will let you.

Boomerang Bridge and the Billabong

Boomerang Bridge returns us to calm. This is a high-conservation zone where you can relax and search dreamily for dragonflies and tadpoles.

Electronic Free Zone

This naturescape brings all the fun elements of being in the bush into a small area in the middle of the city. Leave the computer games at home and embrace the world of tree climbing, cubby building, water play, balancing and jumping. If this isn't enough to have you rushing to squeeze in your naturescape play, Kings Park has some other suggestions for things to do in the park such as making a mud pie or a bush necklace, having a leaf boat race or making a bush picture or a twig sculpture.

Rio Tinto Naturescape is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 9am-4pm. Dress for the dirt and the wet. Take some sandwiches and leave your wallet at home. Click here for a map of the venue.
