The problem with the cooler months is that I live in trousers and jeans, so my legs become pale from a lack of seeing the sun. I decided to try Rimmel's new self-tanning lotion called
Sun Shimmer Instant Tan .
The lotion comes in two colours – light matte and medium matte – depending on your natural skin tone. There is also a water resistant version which is ideal for your next beach holiday.
It's best to have a shower first, shave your legs and then exfoliate with gloves or a cream. You may like to rub in a moisturiser on any dry areas like the knees and elbows. I like to use coconut oil or olive oil. Then leave your skin to rest for half an hour.
Start with a light layer of tanning lotion and then gradually build up the colour. The lotion dries quickly and if needed it can be removed with soap and water.
I like to use a tanning applicator mitt so that you get an even tan without streaks. Use circular motions to apply the lotion. A mitt also prevents stained hands.
This instant tan has a creamy texture and rapid absorption. It doesn't give you the old school orange fake tan colour and there is no weird odour.
Self-tanning lotion is great for the winter months when you want to have the sun-kissed look without damaging your skin. Rimmel's new
Sun Shimmer Instant Tan is a great no-fuss alternative to sun baking.
