Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge puts the fun back in Fun Run
If the idea of running five kilometres around a boring track just isn't for you, then perhaps you'd feel more at home in the 2017 Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge (ROC) Race.
Yes, that really is its name – the ROC Race isn't your average 5km run, with 12 giant obstacles to tackle along the way. Taking place on Sunday, 9th April 2017 and starting from Gloucester Park in East Perth, this ridiculous race is not for the fainted hearted, with challenges that include the Sweeper, the Leap of Faith and Wrecking Balls. Unfortunately, there is no Miley Cyrus-esque ride on top of these wrecking balls – nope, they aim to knock you off and ensure you don't make it out of the pool in a dry set of clothes.
You can tackle the Foam of Fury, the Jump Balls (no explanation required) or have the ultimate drag race with your mates at the Aqua Drag, which is basically a sliding race to the finishing pool.
Wear your best costume too (Image: ROC Race Facebook).
ROC Race is not just about the obstacles – it's about having fun and looking downright silly while you do it. This year's race will feature a costume competition, so get your silliest outfit ready for the race.
Early bird tickets start from $93 plus booking fees. If you'd like an opportunity to run the race for half price or even FREE, why not sign up to be a volunteer on the day? Volunteers are responsible for a whole heap of activities during the day, including checking in race-goers, handing out race packs, manning the water stations and cheering on race participants. By signing up for one shift, you will pay half price fees, and by signing up for two shifts, you can race for free! Volunteers must be 14 years or over and other conditions apply. You can read more here.
ROC Race 2017 is promising to be bigger and better than ever. It's the ultimate fun race that means getting a bit wet, a bit dirty and just a little bit foamy in the process.
