If you plan on joining in on this fantastic bike ride, you'll need your leathers – this is definitely not a bike ride where you flounce around in those colour co-ordinated lycra duds. For the fourth year in a row, the
Shadow Riders Australia's Queensland Chapter is holding the
Ride for Life to coincide with the fundraising efforts of the
Gympie City Gym's Relay for Life Team. The
Relay for Life is a nationally organised series of events where all funds raised support vital cancer research, early detection programmes and patient support services. So it's not just a great day out, but it also helps out a good cause.
The 2015
Ride for Life with
Shadow Riders Australia is set to kick off from the
Pub With No Name at
Aussie World, 73 Frizzo Road, Palmview on Saturday, 3 October, 2015. Registration will commence at 8.30am and the riders will be setting out on the road at 9.30am.
Entry fee for everybody taking part, riders and pillions alike, is $15 each.
Last year the
Shadow Riders Australia's Ride for Life was a stunning success with over 50 bikes joining in and helping to raise over $1,200. This was a great help for the Gympie
Relay for Life Team events which ended up topping everybody in Queensland by raising over $100,000 – not bad for a little country city.

Crusin' the highway, just like Easy Rider
The 2015
Ride for Life will take you over the scenic Stanley Ranges to Kenilworth where an invigorating pit stop is organised. Once everybody is fully refreshed the Ride continues on to the
Gympie Football Club at 70 Tin Can Bay Road, Gympie. Then, thanks to the kind sponsors like,
TourOZ Trikes, the
Aussie World Garage and
Law Essentials who are supporting the ride, you'll be able to relax at the
FREE sausage sizzle for all the riders and pillions attending on the day. There will also be a selection of refreshing drinks to purchase to go with your tasty sausage sizzle.

Hummm, not a Harley but very, very nice
Shadow Riders Australia is a group of like-minded Honda Shadow owners who are keen to share opinions, information and gather for social rides. It offers free membership as a tool for communication within the forum located on the
Shadow Riders Australia website and encourages the formation of social groups all over Australia. To maintain its family orientation member's families are always included in planned activities – such as the
Ride for Life.
To make the
Ride for Life a truly open event all bike types, including trikes and scooters, are welcome to join in on the day. So it's more than a mere possibility you will get to ride alongside some Harley Davidsons. Please note that no support vehicles will be provided.
Honda riders will probably need to bring their Mums along so they can get the free ride patch everybody receives for joining in sewn onto their leathers.
Well OK, enough of this chest-thumping about Harleys and Hondas. I've been told the name,
'Honda' actually stands for,
'Harley Owners Need Dependable Alternatives' and, I guess I just have to admit it, I used to ride Hondas myself – there, I've said it!
Along with the free patch everybody will be in line for some great prizes and, of course, the ride itself is one of great scenery and camaraderie to be enjoyed by everybody.
The whole day will be a blast and ends in you helping an extremely worth cause.

Shadow Riders Australia Ride for Life and have a fantastic day, a stunning and relaxing ride, make new friends and help raise funds for vital cancer research, early detection programmes and patient support services.
