Time sure does fly when you're having fun. The original Rocky Horror Show production which was first performed in the West End in 1973 is now 50 years old. Richard O'Brian's stage musical that started it all, The Rocky Horror Show became a cult phenomenon that has captured people's hearts for the past 5 decades. That heart-thumping, electrifying show has come to Adelaide for its 50th Anniversary production and this may be its best rendition yet. Richard O'Brien himself has made an appearance on Opening Night to get in on the fun.

For the 50th Anniversary of The Rocky Horror Show, Adelaide's Festival Theatre is playing host to an absolutely stellar production. Director Christopher Luscombe, who has been in some way involved with Rocky Horror from the very beginning, has poured decades of experience and love into the milestone production. From the sets, effects, music and choreography, every part of Rocky Horror has been polished to perfection and is mesmerising when it all comes together. Luscombe is exemplary in how well he has put this show together. You can honestly see 50 years of love and dedication on stage. This only leaves one big and very important aspect to go over. I can feel your antici…………......................................pation.

The performers themselves and, oh my, we have got a tremendous cast. Our supporting cast have a jaw-dropping amount of experience on stage with productions around the country. From The X Factor and The Voice's Stellar Perry as Magenta to recent 9 to 5 cast member Ethan Jones as Brad to So You Think You Can Dance's Loredo Malcolm as Rocky and much, much more. This show has a glut of talent that comes to the fore. Add Myf Warhurst as the Narrator and you've got more fun and frivolity than you can handle.

Which brings us to the piece de resistance. There will never be anything as perfect as Tim Curry but David Bedella as Frank N Furter is as close as we'll ever get. His mannerisms, presence and swagger embodies Frank N Furter from head to toe. This cast is already incredible, and David Bedella elevates this to another level. Altogether audiences are in for an unforgettable experience and let us not forget the contribution of that audience.

Those familiar with late-night Rocky Horror Picture Show screenings will be familiar with all the antics fans get into as part of the show. Going to the stage show is another level on top of that. The audience is as much part of the show as the cast is. Learn your lines before you go and be ready to be yelling at the top of your lungs at the stage and for the cast to play along. Wear comfortable shoes as well as you'll likely be dancing with everyone else in a packed Festival theatre. The Rocky Horror Show is the epitome of fun and you are guaranteed to be entertained by the stage, by the crowd and by yourself. The Rocky Horror Show is an experience for the ages and one that is a must-see. The Rocky Horror Show is on at the Festival Theatre until the 13th of May. See more info and purchase tickets here .
