Get dancing to African beats at the Rhythm of Africa festival at Werribee Open Range Zoo.

Every Saturday night from January 10th to February 28th, dance away to a mix of contemporary and traditional African music from Congo, Ghana, Senegal, and West Africa, performed by local bands.

Taste African inspired food and drinks (for purchase), join in an Ethiopian coffee ceremony, and drum up your own creative beats at the free drumming workshops.

The night begins at 4.30pm, with special performances, face-painting, hair-braiding, and games for the kids. The headline band begins at 5.30pm, when visitors of all ages are welcomed to join in on the outdoor dance floor.

And yes, you can spot lions, cheetah and hippos on a Safari Tour before 6pm, and the African Pula Trail before 8pm.

Visitors are welcome to bring blankets, hampers and beverages. Children under 16 receive free entry, Adult tickets are $30.80.
