Rewind '91 Festival – Celebrating 25 Years



Melbourne Central is celebrating 25 years as a Melbourne landmark with a sentimental trip down memory lane. The month-long festival will include activities, stories and exhibits featuring a wide variety of characters from retailers to shoppers alike, and not forgetting the building itself.

The journey starts back in 1991, when Melbourne Central first opened its doors. A lot has happened since then and you can see some of the highlights starting with the very exciting virtual reality experience. This 'fully immersive virtual tour' focuses on the history of the Melbourne's Coops Shot Tower with a fully animated reconstruction. Step back in time and explore this amazing tower and see how lead shot pellets were actually made.

You will find the Virtual Reality Experience at the Shot Tower Square opposite Sephora. It is open Thursdays from 10am to 9pm, Fridays 10am to 9pm, Saturdays 10am to 7pm and Sundays 10am to 7pm.

From a virtual reality to the real world Shot Tower Museum located in McIntyre Alley and Menzies Alley at Melbourne Central. Festival goers can learn more about how Melbourne Central has evolved over the last quarter century. The exhibit will also feature a series on Daimaru, how the City Loop was constructed and, just what is a Butterfly Vivarium? You'll learn all this and more in the Melbourne Central museum.

Save the Date: Rewind '91 will also include a Shopping Festival on Wednesday 14th September 2016 from 10am to 10pm. This is going to be huge! An all day shopping party featuring over 150 offers and special events. If you love shopping, this is a party you don't want to miss.

Taking us on a blast to the past, Hoyts Cinemas will be running a Hoyts Rewind film festival for some 'old school' movie fun. We're talking popular classics such as Back to the Future and the Karate Kid back on the big screen.
