The drum shop is small but very well stocked with percussive items of all kinds, plus more. From full drum kits to sticks and skins, cymbals, hardware and all manner of cowbells, clap traps, glockenspiels, chimes, gongs, bells, castanets, clappers, shakers and plenty more. There's electronic kits, individual snare drums, pedals, cases, the works. Plus they stock a range of acoustic and electric guitars, straps, keyboards, stands and other instruments. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and if by chance they don't have what you're after, they'll get it in for you. Revolver Drums is an absolute little gem of a drum store.
The steps up to the band room and bar/nightclub are long and steep, but the journey is worth it (and probably good for you as well!). The band room is again, quite small. One of the tiniest in Melbourne in fact. But that only adds to the intimate awesomeness of the place. Put just 100 punters in there with a rocking band and the place absolutely goes off. And despite its size, or lack thereof, it's a full professional set-up with an excellent stage, sound and lights. When the beer is flowing and the band is pumping this is one of the best band rooms in Melbourne, make sure you get out and experience a rock show at Revolver soon.
The bar and nightclub area, situated behind the band room, is much larger. There's pool tables, video games and plenty of couches for daytime chillin' with a nice red or even a coffee. You can begin your evening's festivities with a sensational Thai meal at Captain Tan's Restaurant. Then the room certainly fires up at night with all manner of DJs on the decks pumping tunes all night long. The bar is extremely well stocked, and this is certainly one place where you can shake your booty til the break of dawn.
Take the rear stairs, or enter from behind Chapel, city side, via Macquarie Street, and you're in the Revolver band rehearsal rooms. The many clean rooms, professional PAs, instrument storage areas and friendly staff make Revolver one of the biggest and best rehearsal studios in Melbourne. Artists as diverse as Renee Geyer, 28 Days and Tex Perkins have called Revolver home over the years. Also within its walls is the professional music school, where students from eight years old to eighty can learn drums, guitar, keyboards, singing and just about anything else. The teachers are all qualified professionals and will get you wailing in no time.
They say Revolver is a place you never actually have to leave. Take the time to explore its halls soon, you won't fail to find what you are looking for.
