The
Revelation Perth International Film Festival is back this July, showcasing the very best independent film releases.
Held at the
Astor Theatre from July 14, 2011, this independent film festival has a number of Australia premieres, upon a quick glance at the just released film program - there is certainly something for everyone.
Highlights of the film program include;
Outrage , the crime drama directed by the legendary director, writer and actor Takeshi Kitano. This feature was in competition at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.
The acclaimed
Submarine , a coming of age feature directed by the multi-talented Richard Ayoade. This feature has been a festival favourite in the USA and UK, and is certain to be an audience favourite in Australia.
Tyrannosaur is also directed by another multi-talented Brit - Paddy Considine (who also stars in Submarine). Tyrannosaur is the anticipated directorial début from the acclaimed actor.
Meek's Cutoff is also part of the film program. Directed by Kelly Reichardt, this acclaimed feature stars Michelle Williams, Zoe Kazan and Bruce Greenwood.
The exploitation film
Hobo with a Shotgun is also screening. Based on a
Grindhouse trailer , the cult film stars Rutger Hauer (and a shotgun).
Another acclaimed feature is the crime drama
Charlie Casanova , directed by Terry McMahon.
In addition to the festival screenings, there will be a host of
special events , including 'In Conversation with David Stratton, Margaret Pomeranz and Richard Kuipers' and a range of workshops and public lectures.
