A collection of short animated films, just for Perth kids
The Perth Fringe Festival is in full swing, with plenty of events still to come before the world's third largest Fringe wraps up on 25 February. If you have children and haven't been to an event yet, the Revelation Perth International Film Festival's RevMini kids' animation is a great Fringe introduction for families – and it's free.
RevMini is a delightful film program showcasing the very best in international kids' animation – no, we're not talking about Peppa Pig or Paw Patrol. These short, animated films will screen at the Northbridge Piazza SuperScreen on Sunday, 11 February and Sunday, 25 February at 5:30pm.
Each film lasts from just under two minutes to around 20 minutes, meaning they are the perfect length for children who simply can't sit still. They have been specifically picked for the youngsters of Perth and include Nimbus, The Cloud Catcher, a 17 minute animation by Brazilian Marco Nick. It's a thought-provoking, visually creative look at how clouds are created and who controls them.
Why not make an afternoon and evening of it by heading to the Kids Comedy Gala, which is also part of the 2018 Fringe Festival and will take place from Sunday, 11 February (along with Saturday 10 and Sunday, 18 February) from 4pm. Tickets to that event are $21 (kids under 2 are free.)
After the screening you can head to one of the many eateries around the Northbridge Piazza for a bite to eat. Then it's time to make the journey home to put the kids in bed, having witnessed some of the best children's animation in the world, right here in Perth.
