Getting
"Back to Basics" is becoming a big idea, gaining momentum through communities world wide, and it's important to understand that what's driving this desire is not only a
wish for a better world for future generations, but a
need for one as well.
Regardless of whether you're a denier or a supporter in this "Climate of Change", there is absolutely nothing wrong in taking steps to make our lives more sustainable and to tread a little more lightly. Finally we get to a place where the whole really can become greater than the sum of its parts; because back to basics living inspires individuals and brings communities together. Returning to the family patch is the key; we score big time when we are not only caring for our children, but showing them how to care as well.
Get Real International , an organisation helping children and teenagers in the community find their groove, are proud to present the
Return to the Family Patch Fun Fair , in Loganholme on
Saturday the 12th April from 12noon - 8pm.
This will be an inspiring event. A celebration of grass roots ideas, sustainable living, thinking locally, and growing your own veggies. A unique effort, that not only creates a better, more thoughtful future, but brings us all back together. It is fostering these bonds that will heal individuals, families, and communities and help create a way of life that, for many, offers that integral sense of achievement and well being.
Return to the Family Patch has been organised by
Tamsyn Rosenberg, founder of
Get Real International. The fair was originally designed to celebrate the launch of their teaching community veggie plot, but has burgeoned to include mini workshops on fermenting, starting your own veggie patch, green smoothies, organic gardening, relaxation, yoga, and meditation.
There will be all sorts of entertainment and something for all ages, pony rides, jumping castles, petting zoos, rock climbing, live music, workshops, and rides.
Part sustainable living festival, part music festival
Akova Onemaneightinstruments will be there too! This is the man whose vibe is described by Chris Lambie from
Forte Magazine as "most welcome at any summery festival… any act to get people dancing 'like no-one's watching' is always welcome in this crazy world". Akova will be supported by upcoming teen band
Mercury Moon, it's gonna be hot!
More low-down on Get Real International can be found on their
Get Real International Facebook page
This event is completely free but to help them cater you do need to
register online , almost 600 tickets have already been booked, at time of writing, and they have to cap it at 1000 due to Council regulations, so get in quick! Parking details, venue details and directions will arrive with your tickets.
This is a great way to be together as a family during the holidays, it will help you spend quality time with your kids while learning life skills that will always be appreciated. Plus the music and the atmosphere in general will knock everyone's socks off.
Get your bare feet on the earth and start dancing and planting!
