Retropia Danish Furniture Showroom is hidden is the backstreets of Williamstown but is full of "wow" factor authentic, handcrafted, Danish Retro pre-loved furniture ready to grace any home.
Retropia was established in January 2013 by Pia Fonsboel who hand picks the furniture from Denmark; her loyal clientele is always thrilled when a new container load arrives at the showroom. Pia is welcoming and encourages shoppers to touch, feel, sit and try out the pieces, to get a real feel for the quality of the Danish deluxe furniture.
At varying times the shop stocks pieces by classic designers ranging from the original Eames and Egg chairs to pieces crafted by Danish designers such as Borge Mogensen and Kai Kristiansen. If you see something you like don't hesitate, the unique stock moves quickly and you don't want to be disappointed.
Kai Kristiansen Danish dining chair comfort and style
Wood is a feature of many pieces of Danish furniture, my favourite pieces at the moment are the Teak floating bedside tables, and the very comfortable sofa that converts readily into a bed for unexpected guests. Every visit to Retropia is a test of my willpower, I am always sorely tempted to indulge.
The Retropia Showroom is a veritable Aladdin's Cave, stocked with bespoke Danish furnishings from sideboards, desks, dining suites, sofas, daybeds and lounge-room suites to individual chairs that beckon you to sit a while and relax. The stock is constantly changing which makes Retropia worth more than one visit.
Retropia is located at Unit 3, 33 Macaulay Street, Williamstown. Mobile 0448 393 553, the hours are Saturday and Sunday 11.00 am until 4.00 pm. You can view the stock on line at www.retropia.com.au
