Get your indie look from Retro World
If your dress style draws from last century's obsolete fashion, head over to the Retro World Collective pop-up store for a rummage through an eclectic range of vintage dresses, shirts, jeans, boots, bags, belts, and hats. There are men's, women's, and children's clothing that will bring back memories of fleeting fashion fads as well as some trends that have made it back into High Street style.

Owner/manager Kirstin, was propelled into starting up the business after losing her job during the Covid pandemic. Aside from creating a job for herself, Kirstin said she wanted to create a safe space for people to have freedom to assemble their unique, sometimes wacky, wardrobe or work on costume building. Having grown up with secondhand clothing, learning to re-purpose old clothes, and being interested in fashion history, Kirstin felt that she was ready to embark on this new career path.

Retro World Collective is currently located at the Myer Centre in Queen Street Mall.

Besides the retro and vintage clothing, the store stocks antiques, collectibles, books, records, decor, and homewares. An unusual item on the shop floor is a dragster that has been refurbed.

Each of the fitting rooms is themed and worth having a look at even if you're not going to try on some clothing.

Retro is always in fashion. At pop ups like these you never know what you will find which is half the fun.

Checked it out Sunday and worth a look. Ended up finding a CD to buy. I found it by asking the info desk. Enjoyed stopping at Wake Up cafe too and Video King is up on the next level.

I took the bus into the city last Friday especially to go to this retro shop. It doesn't seem to exist. I've been a few times but not for a while. Has the shop closed?
