Parents and grandparents won't need much encouragement to go on this little outing.

It will allow them to relive some favourite stories from their childhood and pass a love of books onto the next generation.

This event is part of [LINK=www.rarebookweek.com
]Melbourne Rare Book Week[/LINK] and there will be story readings of some beautiful old classic story books.

For most people, Harry the Dirty Dog brings back fond memories. It was originally published in black and white way back in 1956 and has been dearly loved every since.

Who could forget the image of Harry covered in muck to the extent even his own family don't recognise him. The only way he can prove his identity is to retrieve the brush he has buried. It is such a wonderful story of love and acceptance.

Or the book inspired by a hole punch, The Very Hungry Caterpillar who chomps though enormous quantities of food until he emerges as a beautiful butterfly.

Another gorgeous story of acceptance not unlike Hans Christian Andersen's The_Ugly_Duckling%% The Ugly Duckling. ]

Awards and accolades

The beautiful illustrations done by Eric Carle live on.

Other old friends you will be able to visit include Orlando the Marmalade Cat and the Bunyip of Berkley's Creek .

What a unique and lovely event for all generations.

Bookings are recommended for this event, please contact Melbourne Library Service or visit the Melbourne Rare Book Week website for further information.
