Do you remember the Woolstore before it became fancy units? Are you interested in the history of the Newstead/ New Farm/ Teneriffe area?Do you love retro and vintage clothing?Would you like to taste beer from a micro brewery? Are you a local wanting to see behind the scenes of your own suburb? If you answer yes to any one of these (and even if you don't) you will want to check out the State Library's Pedal Power event, Retro Rides.

As a part of State Library's Hot Modernism program – unearthing the stories of Queensland's mid-century architecture - you're invited on a pedal powered journey from past to present day in Newstead, New Farm and Teneriffe.

Lots of unusual options are available for you to participate in:

  • Find out about the previous lives of the Woolstore buildings and the Brisbane Powerhouse.
  • Shop for retro outfits and accessories in a vintage pop-up van
  • Explore behind the scenes of a micro-brewery
  • Taste beer!

  • Tickets are $40 each which includes beer tastings and pub grub.
You will want to bring additional cash for pop-up shop and brewery merchandise.

This is an 18 event. BYO bike and helmet or hire a CityCycle .

Retro rides will be held on Saturday 6 and 13 September.
