Here's why. Some of you might be aware of an
earlier article on the therapeutic benefits of floating in warm Epsom salt water, but I recently did some successive floats at
Rest House over a few weeks. The results were so good, I just had to share.
Floating in a large enclosed bathtub in a water solution comprising 500kg of magnesium sulphate (Epsom salt) is extremely relaxing. In fact, you often don't realise how tense you are until you start to just let go and let the salt and the peaceful environment slowly start to ease you out. It's an easy, gradual unwinding that I felt progressively not only during the floats, but in between and still now. I'm much more relaxed overall in both body and mind.
There is, however, more to it than a lovely let-go-and-float experience, not that there's anything wrong with that. Scientific
studies have shown that doing some regular flotation therapy has prolonged and much more beneficial results that are retained over the long term when floating at least once per month.
While you still feel great after one session and don't just take my word for it, the deepest beneficial effects are felt at around the third session. I followed Rest House's advice for the best benefits, which involved three successive sessions every two weeks, though the interval can even be up to four weeks and you'll still feel terrific.
So, what can you expect? You can expect an overall lift in your general wellbeing, the many physical and mental benefits explained in both my
earlier article and on the Rest House
website. Marina and the team at Rest House Float Centre, Hampton East can also help with any queries you might have.
They'd also like to invite you to enjoy a $25 discount off your first float!
