The company aims to promote the small-scale ('chamber') music scene in Sydney by hosting events which are short in duration (approximately one-hour); held at a convenient time (early evening or afternoon followed by a reception); and are affordably priced ($25 full or $20 concession).
The reception following the live music performance is held in a relaxed and causal atmosphere, allowing the audience to meet the artists.
Currently Resonance presents ten programmes per year, and each programme receives three performances around Sydney: Lavender Bay (North Sydney area), Pitt Street in the heart of the CBD, and Annandale in Sydney's inner-west.
The music ranges from the Baroque to the Twentieth Century, and features 'household name' composers and works as well as outstanding music which is perhaps not so well-known.
The next Resonance event features outstanding dramatic soprano Mylinda Joyce, accompanied by pianist Chris Cartner. Held on Friday 24th July, from 7 to 8pm at Pitt Street Uniting Church, Sydney CBD, this event will feature a popular programme of beloved songs and arias.
Audiences can look forward to show-stopping moments from Puccini's exquisite operas, thrilling music by Wagner and highly romantic songs from composers such as Richard Strauss and Francesco Cilea.
