Resolute Beach

Home > Sydney > Beaches | Walks
Published December 15th 2009
Rocks and trees, trekking and bushwalking, fleeting views of Pittwater, aboriginal carvings and to top it off a hidden beach - sounds fun? Discovering hidden beaches can be immense fun and if the beach and the views are well worth the effort then its even better.

Reachable on undertaking a 2km trek down a steep hill through Ku-ring-gai National Park or else by boat Resolute Beach rewards those who arrive here with spectacular views and serene waters.

To access this beach you will need to reach Resolute Picnic ground near the end of West Head Road and hop onto the walking track. The track will lead you through Red Hands Cave where you get to see aboriginal rock art, a creek crossing, waterfall, vantage points and lookouts with spectacular views of Palm Beach and Barrenjoey and finally to Resolute beach after a steep descent. The beach welcomes its visitors with rocks and trees that shade the sandy beach and views across the water to Station Beach and of yachts sailing past and seaplanes taking off.

Its a great spot for picnic enthusiasts who dont want to be disturbed but be sure to expect a trek and carry loads of water.

Gates to West Head are closed from 8.30pm to 6am during daylight savings periods, and 6pm to 6am at other times of the year so make sure you plan your trip accordingly.
