Is your child struggling with their emotions?

It can be upsetting and frustrating to see any child struggle with their emotions at home, school or in social situations. It can be difficult to know what to do to build confidence in a child who experiences worry and stress over change or making mistakes.

Unfortunately, many children lack the coping skills and resilience they need to succeed at school and to enjoy life to the full. Furthermore, conflict can rise amongst family members because these children might be expected to use coping skills they have not acquired yet.

Resilience Kit offers positive and inclusive group programs designed to help children learn better ways to cope with their emotions and life's challenges.

The curriculum introduces therapeutic concepts to children through a series of playful and creative group sessions, developing executive functioning skills to build resilience and reduce anxiety.

When children learn strategies to improve their executive functioning skills, they find it easier to:

  • Understand, communicate and regulate their emotions

  • Control impulses which can get them into trouble

  • Be flexible when things do not go to plan

  • Organise themselves for school

  • Initiate work and stay on task

At some point, to some degree, all children struggle with emotional regulation, exercising self-control and getting along with others.

Some children, however, need additional support to help them catch up to their peers at a similar developmental stage. Given the right strategies, tools and support, these children often thrive in their new-found resilience and confidence.

Executive functioning skills become increasingly important as young people venture into the world with less parental supervision and guidance. Investing in building and boosting your child's skills now will set them up with the skills for life to manage school, work and relationships.

After attending a five-session group program, parents notice an improvement in their child's ability to regulate their emotions, self-talk and behaviour.

Children aged 5 to 11 years are invited to take part in the January School Holiday Resilience Program.
