Visit Rendezvous for a tea date with a little gypsy twist
A visit to The Rendezvous Tea Room, tucked away in Brisbane's inner city suburb of Woolloongabba, is a fanciful little step into the past: imagine Brisbane in the 1940s, where the steam of cups of Devonshire tea rose gently from English teacups and draped tables were ladened with tiers of cakes, sandwiches and other delightful things.
What's wonderful about this little tearoom - aside from the quiet little nooks perfect for eating, drinking and catching up - is its gypsy-esque twist: palmistry, card readings, numerology and tea readings are on offer - perfect if you're needing a little extra guidance and insight, or perhaps simply for a fun and different thing to do with friends.
A friend and I visited Rendezvous for high tea, ($80 for two, and available every day from 10am - 2pm), and were delighted to discover that this included a mini tea leaf reading. By simply turning our empty teacups upside down, then turning them three times, and then tapping them three times (an old gypsy tradition that stems back to the 1700s), the reader, which, on that day was well renowned clairvoyant, Luke Quadrelli, was able to commence reading our fortunes. We were both pleasantly surprised at the accuracy of our readings, so hopefully you will be too!
All sorts of whimsy goodness at the Rendezvous Tea Room
There is free three hour parking underneath Coles, which is only a few metres away – so no pesky parking metres for you!
Keep In Touch
Visit the tea room's Facebook page to keep in the loop about special offers, such as palm reading workshops.
Can't recommend this place enough. The food is delicious, the ambience is fantastic and dining here is such a unique experience. We love that the foos is not the same as you get everywhere. The decor allows you to take step back in time and away from your life for a while.
