has long been a fixture of the Darwin food scene. There are two locations. The first and original one is in the Star Arcade off the Smith Street Mall. The new one is now situated right near the NT Parliament at the end of Mitchell Street. There is parking nearby at the NT Parliament, or you could park on the Esplanade or under the Mitchell Centre. It's a short walk from there.

Rendezvous at Mitchell House is very bright and airy. It is always cool inside. There is ample room for big groups and families. There are also tables for singles/couples. It doesn't have the feel of the original Rendezvous as it's not quite so intimate. However, the service with a smile is still the same. Locals know that Rendezvous is the place for romance territory style, so then those same couples bring back their children to enjoy the excellent food and so the tradition continues.

The menu is specialised and focuses mainly on Laksa. The Laksa is what most people in Darwin come for. The bowls are massive, and the chef's cook it to your taste. You can get mild, medium or hot, and a variety of meats or vegetables to choose from. You can also ask for additional meat, spice and vegetables. The staff are very obliging and attentive.

City workers queue up at lunchtime for the Laksa. Rendezvous also does take away, so many work colleagues order and then pick up. There are also appetisers, noodle dishes, and stir-fry dishes on offer.

My Laksa disappeared before I had a chance to take a photo of it. The iced coffee is always delicious because the waiters use the perfect amount of cream and ice-cream.

Where's your favourite Laksa in Darwin?
