Observe the Remembrance Day on 11 November 2018 to pay tribute to the fallen heroes who have died and fought in wars and peacekeeping operations, and for those who continue to serve our country with honour and valiance. Melbourne will mark this day with a number of free events and ceremonies.
The Remembrance Day Service On 11 November 2018, at10.15am come to the Shrine of Remembrance for the Victorian State Remembrance Day Service. Everyone will observe one minute of silence at 11am. The Honourable Linda Dessau AC, Governor of Victoria, will be present and lay a wreath on behalf of all Victorians.
Vocal tribute and award ceremony Following the official service, there will be a choral performance. At 11:30am, medals will be presented to the 2018 Shrine of Remembrance medal recipient. At 11:45am, there will be a presentation to the finalist of the 2018 Remembrance Day Poster Competition for primary school children.
Ray of sunlight After the conclusion of the Remembrance Day service, visitors can come together between 11.50am and 12.10pm and watch the natural ray of sunlight passing across the Stone of Remembrance, illuminating the word 'LOVE' at midday in the Sanctuary. Flag lowering ceremony
The flag lowering ceremony will occur at 5pm ,when the Shrine guard will lover the flags as the Last Post sounds.
Commemorate Remembrance Day through any of the following options: Plant a personalised poppy in the Shrine's Field of Poppies. Partake in the Remembrance Day appeal and purchase a poppy or badge or pin.
Join your local community or RSL at your local Remembrance Day service.
-Cease all activities and pause for a minute's silence at 11am on 11 November 2018.
