Located opposite Mawson Lakes Library, Relish on Main is a good place to go to enjoy a wide range of Australian-style café foods. A nice part of dining at the restaurant is that you are allowed to request minor changes to the menu to suit your tastes.
A dish that we have not seen at Australian cafes, their Hawaiian Ham Steaks had ham steaks that had the right amount of smoky flavour partnered perfectly by the sweet grilled pineapple slices. They were also dusted with lemon pepper to give them a bit of extra flavour. Accompanying the ham were lovely golden brown wedges, sour cream and sweet chilli sauce. The ham steaks are normally topped with cheese but we asked for the cheese to be left out because my father is not a fan of cheese.

We were delighted that the beef patty in the Beef Philli Burger was juicy and the accompanying caramelized onions and mushrooms added a bit of a smoky flavour. Freshness was provided by the tomato, lettuce and relish, and the chips served with the burger had the appropriate amount of salt. Diners with intolerance to gluten will be delighted to know that their beef patties are gluten free and they can also request for a gluten free bun.

Great for those not in the mood for burgers, the sausage in The Lot Dog was cooked just right with bacon helping to enhance its smoky flavour. Mustard added a delectable tangy taste to the dish with slightly sweet tomato sauce providing a balance. Served with the hot dog were chips which were of the same quality as those accompanying the Beef Philly Burger.
Their Cheeseburger is one of the smaller sized burgers that can be ordered; great for those who find finishing their larger burgers by themselves to be a bit daunting. We liked that the beef patty had a crusty exterior to complement the juicy centre. Pickles and mustard added a bit of tanginess. We chose to swap the fries for sweet potato chips, which had the slightly sweet flavour we like.

There was enough pulled pork in their Pulled Pork Burger to make eating the burger a satisfying experience. The crisp coleslaw was a good partner to the succulent pork and the smoky barbeque sauce and creamy cheese tied everything together.

Relish offers all-day breakfast dishes. The scrambled eggs in the Relish Big Breaky had a delightful fluffy texture and the bacon, hash brown and mushrooms were cooked just right. A bit of sweetness was provided by the grilled tomato and the toasted sourdough was notable for being buttered while still hot to ensure it was not too dry. We chose to switch the cheese kransky sausage for a hot dog.

The décor of the restaurant is clean, modern and airy. Its close location to the Mawson Lakes campus of the University of South Australia and schools makes it a convenient place for students and staff to drop by for a delicious meal.
