I am a mum of two and Primary School teacher whose aim is to never be home during the midday movie. I believe that I am only ever a car trip away from an adventure.

Why just love to eat when you can love to cook too
Melbourne is indisputably an amazing city to dine in. Whether it's a culinary experience you're after or a simple meal with family or friends there's a destination for everyone. Now imagine that you could bring that same joy, creativity and social interaction to your own dining table without the expense of a restaurant or having to share a space with other patrons. Be it for any occasion or for no occasion at all there's a real joyous atmosphere a home cooked meal can create when shared with the important people in your life.

However if you're anything like me and the thought of cooking particularly to impress others, sends panic through your veins or the constant pressure of providing a variety of nutritious and balanced meals to your family night after night causes you daily despair then rest assured you're not alone. Thankfully this stress is avoidable and can be overcome.

Thanks to Relish Mama Cooking School that is. Conveniently located in the Bayside suburb of Cheltenham this super sized kitchen is run by Nellie aka Relish Mama whose been offering Melbournians and visitors high end cooking courses and classes since 2009. She has successfully turned her passion for food into an invitation for all to find their love, their creativity and to enjoy the moments that making and sharing a meal creates. It's those times around the table when nothing but taste and smell and friends and family are all that matter that's cherished and celebrated at Relish Mama.

In fact when you undertake a class at Relish Mama you not only watch and learn from a professional, get hands on, leave with a barrel of knowledge and recipes but you also dine with your class mates at Nellie's beautifully set table and indulge in the meal you all created. Add to that a perfectly partnered glass of wine and conversations with people whom were possible strangers only a couple of hours prior and it's one dinner party you'll never forget.

Relish Mama offers courses in just about everything you could dream like pizza making, Thai, vegetarian, midweek meals, Mexican, Spanish, Moroccan, pastry, desserts, seafood and even classes aimed just at the men folk. All classes last approximately 2.5 - 3 hours and are hosted either by Nellie personally and wow can she cook, or an instructor who shares her desire to introduce you to quality and healthy ingredients and inspire you to fall in love with food and cooking.

There are even classes run for kids over the school holidays including ones aimed at teens. These are a big hit with all the mini master chefs out there. These holidays get in quick as classes start from the 2nd of October and there's only a few spots left. Not surprising really. Who wouldn't want to cook up a dinner party storm or indulge in a Mexican Fiesta with "My Kitchen Rules" own contestant Smiley Sam. Maybe your kids will love it so much they will want to take over kitchen duties at your place on a regular basis.

In fact you never know who might show up as a guest chef at one of Nellie's classes. It may be the likes of Michele Curtis, professional chef and food writer, Annie Smithers, chef and restaurateur or perhaps chef and designer Guy Mirabella. Whomever it might be they will be talented, inspiring and energetic and will make your experience all the more memorable and your taste buds all the more merrier.

Before you know it you'll be inviting people to dine around your table and will be giddy with excitement at the thought of cooking up mughlai chicken with parathas, paella with white fish or maybe dulche de leche pavlova with salted caramel praline. And you'll do it with confidence and skill instead of dread. It may sound unbelievable but you can cook these delectable meals and enjoy the whole process, except maybe the dishes afterwards. Even I can cook them! You can make all these amazing dishes and so many more and when you get the hang of them, invite me over. I'll bring a pot of Nellie's grandmother's roast pumpkin soup.

It's amazing.
