Can you Relay For Life?
It is hard to find an individual in any community who has not been touched by cancer and after losing my mum to Bowel Cancer many years ago, the Cancer Council is a charity very dear to me.
As a community-funded and focused charity the Council works tirelessly to raise funds to advance research into the search for a cure, and to provide support services and advocacy initiatives to those affected.
Relay For Life is the Cancer Council's most successful fundraising program and is a signature community event bringing together individuals and teams of around 10 to 15 people from all walks of life for just 19 hours each year to recognise and celebrate survivors, patients and carers.
Relay for Life will be held in major centres around South Australia, giving everyone a chance to participate in one or more Relays to show their support. All events commence with the Opening Ceremony at 2 pm on the Saturday and end with the Closing Ceremony at 9 am on Sunday. In 2018, events will be as follows:

Cost to register is $25 per person for each event and includes a Relay For Life shirt, free cooked breakfast and access to all entertainment and activities over the weekend.
The first lap of each event is a Survivors and Carers lap to celebrate those who have had cancer and are now cancer free or undergoing treatment. Carers may walk with the person they care for or walk in honour of a loved one lost. You will receive a coloured sash to wear proudly and may participate in the Survivors and Carers lap whether you are part of a team or not. Go to the website to find out how to register for this lap.

Corporate Teams are encouraged to enter and information on Corporate Teams can be found at the website.
A Candlelight Ceremony will be held at each event at around 8 pm on the Saturday night to honour and remember loved ones lost. This time is subject to sunset and therefore may vary at some locations.
Each Relay For Life event website displays the Relay Goal, what has been raised to date, team balances and top participants providing an awesome incentive for teams to get fundraising early. Relay For Life is an all ages event and you don't have to be over 18 to get involved although youth teams must have two adult supervisors at all times. Why not get a team together and get fundraising today!
