Relay For Life is a fun and moving overnight experience that raises vital funds for Cancer Council WA's research, prevention, and support services.

Unfortunately, most of us have had close friends and/or family deeply affected by this horrible disease and we need to find a cure to stop the suffering by both the patient and those left behind.

There will be a Walk for Life Relay event, and this is dedicated to friends/family who are living with cancer or have battled and lost. You would also be walking for those that are unable to walk themselves for various reasons.

The aim is to raise as many funds as possible in the hope of finding cures for this dreadful, life threatening disease. As well as this, these funds will go towards helping those who are currently fighting cancer in their everyday lives.

Donations received by the Cancer Council of WA also go towards creating awareness in the community, and showing people what a difference friends can make by giving to those who need it.

Please take the time to watch this video, which will give you an insight into last year's relay.

Often the people walking in this relay (and they walk in rain, hail, or shine) become very sore from the long distances they may walk, however they know it will be such a help in order to raise those much needed funds.

There are all types of people who help with this event, and people who walk have many different reasons why they do this - they may have lost a loved one; they may have a friend currently suffering; they may have a relation currently battling this disease, and often we do not understand how a little help and support from a friend, can help our suffering.

There are many different things you can do if you are unable to compete in this walk, and to find out more, visit this link .

The following is a general outline of the Event, and well worth watching.

You can also form a corporate team, and the Corporate Team Program offers a great opportunity to bring your team together, and help this worthy cause. All funds raised by corporate teams will go towards supporting the Cancer Council's vital research, prevention and support services.

If you do not, or cannot walk, The Cancer Council is always looking for volunteers who can help with this event. These are also an important part of the days as, without them, the event would not run smoothly.

There are many enlightening stories of care, survival and battles, and some of these can be seen here .
