Who doesn't love a nice day out with good food?
A day at the beach
There is no doubting that Perth boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Pristine white sand, clear blue water and a plethora of cafes and restaurants on the beach side makes for a perfect day out! Scarborough beach is one of my go to destinations if you are up for a chilled out beach crowd and a tasty lunch. I'd recommend heading down there around 10am to ensure you get a good car park and stay ahead of the afternoon wind, and for lunch definitely head on over to The Local Shack! They do delicious food and beverages, have cute little board games to entertain you whilst waiting for food (connect four!), and the interior has a laid back, vintage vibe that is perfect for a post beach chill!
Kings Park is always a beautiful option if you are looking to have an afternoon or evening picnic among the beautiful scenery of flowers, river and city views. My favourite King's Park evening consists of first heading down to Leederville and grabbing a quick take away from Sweetlips Fish & Chips (absolutely delicious, fresh seafood), or if you have a sweet tooth, picking up a box of churros and chocolate from San Churros. Kings Park is only a short drive from Leederville, so you can head up there and set up a little picnic blanket on the grassy hillside and tuck into your quick and easy dinner! A great idea for a date, a best friend outing, or to just have a little 'me time'.
A day in the Swan Valley is one of the best ways to unwind and take in some gorgeous food, wine and scenery. If you are looking for a fun activity I would definitely recommend heading down to Oasis Supa Golf & Adventure Putt to have a quick game of mini golf, or a big game of supa golf! It is incredibly fun and a relaxing way to work up an appetite for lunch! Penny Garden is a lovely little restaurant sat on the edge of a clear paddock that offers a menu full of delicious dishes that will 100% satisfy any lunch cravings! It is also located across from the Yahava Koffeeworks (say yes to free coffee tastings!). For a cheeky dessert, pop down and across the road to the Margaret River Chocolate Factory and taste the delightful chocolate buttons for free!
If you're looking to escape the Perth city vibe, make a trip down to Fremantle and discover why it placed #7 on the Lonely Planet's list of top 10 tourism cities in the world! The Ferris wheel is a token activity that will bring you back to the good old days and offer pretty views out over Fremantle. If you are looking for a quiet activity, check out the Luna Cinema for showings of excellent indie films and the option to purchase an alcoholic beverage at the cinema bar to take into the movie (bonus!). An excellent coffee and lunch location is the Di Bella Roasting Warehouse which I cannot recommend strongly enough. They have the best coffee in the world! Take it from someone who obsesses over trying coffee from everywhere I travel to, this is the number 1! Their pork sliders are also an excellent lunch treat, and coupled with friendly service, this place is an absolute gem.
