The Myer Centre in Adelaide's CBD has the perfect little spot for you to go vintage shopping; Relax in Vintage clothing and coffee lounge. Located on level 2; this relaxed shop is well stocked with all sorts of nostalgia inducing garments: sequin dresses, leather jackets, polyester tops, lace, minks, and of course a vintage shoe section.
Before or after shopping, while you wait for your partner, or perhaps if you are not such an enthusiastic shopper, but your friends are, this space has a café, so you can recharge with a drink and sweet treat. They offer a wide selection of hot and cold drinks, barista made coffee, teas and little cakes.
The lounge area is super comfortable, vintage couches, tables and lamps all make for a very warm atmosphere and as the name suggests, a relaxed space away from the busy Rundle Mall.
Their staff are all friendly, they know looking and buying vintage clothing takes time, lots of staring and sometimes giggling at old fashions, so they aren't pushy or rushed.
Visit this little shop and you will be captivated, if you have tried thrift shops before and haven't enjoyed the general vibe, Relax in Vintage will change your view on second hand stores. As this is the high end boutique version, all pieces of clothing have been carefully selected, cleaned and arranged to create beautiful displays. The prices are reasonable - if you want to snap a bargain, keep an eye on their outside discounted rack.
Unlike the 60's, 70's, 80's and other gone by eras, Relax in Vintage is hopefully here to stay for the coming decades, as it is not only a welcoming space, but a little door to the past, our ancestors' fashions and a lesson to mend and repurpose clothing.
