The Cohesion Festival on Friday 21 June 2019 from 9.30am to 6pm at Hume Global Learning Centre, 1093 Pascoe Vale Rd, Broadmeadows is within the boundaries of Refugee Week (16-22 Jun 2019); an event where a telling of stories and a shared meal are encouraged. This is an opportunity for the whole nation to celebrate the contribution refugees make to our society and to remember and honour the difficult journey they have taken to get here.
For some, it may be the first time you're meeting a refugee face to face, and they're no longer someone you just read about. Through storytelling you will better understand the courage it takes and the contributions that are made in our society by refugees. This celebration has something for everyone along with performances, free food, kids activities, services expo and more, all day, all for FREE. Families from refugee, asylum seeker and migrant backgrounds living in the Hume region are especially encouraged to come and enjoy a fun day, and get to know the services available in the local community.
