Entries for The 2015 Scattered Arts Annual Competition for Queensland painters, jewellers, textile and fibre artists and sculptors are closing soon!Winners will be announced at the Exhibition opening event, on Friday 16 October 2015.This year's total prize pool is $2200, with the 'Best in Show' winner receiving $1000! Last year's inaugural competition was a major success with over 100 entries received, so the Scattered Arts Committee decided to make it an annual event.The 2014 'Best-in-Show' winner, Carolyn Morgan, invested her prize money of $1000 in a new DSLR camera to take much better images of her art, and she is thrilled with the results of her win.The theme for this year is 'Reflections - Real or Imaginary' and there are four categories for adults to enter:1. Painting (any medium)2. Jewellery3. Textile and fibre4. SculptureChildren are also invited to participate by entering a general category for primary school students and for high school students.As this year's theme is broad, artists are encouraged to use their imagination and decide what 'reflections' means to them. You could interpret it as personal history, mirroring images or as a mediation on a specific theme. With this annual competition, the Scattered Arts Committee hopes to offer continued support to the talented Queensland arts community and also promote traditional and contemporary arts to children and youths.To enter the competition, download and complete the registration form here . Entries must be delivered to Scattered Arts, 6 Newman Avenue, Camp Hill by 3pm on Friday 9 October 2015.Winners will be announced at the opening event, Friday 16 October 2015 from 6pm to 8pm. Everyone is welcome to attend the opening night event.
