Well, it had to happen. These days you can stay in ice hotels, up in a treehouse and on bungalows built out over the water. But did you know that Australia has just launched its first underwater accommodation?
For tourist and local alike Cruise Whitsundays - Reefsuites will be a real drawcard as it enables visitors to get close to one of the seven wonders of the natural world - The Great Barrier Reef.

If you have been to The Great Barrier Reef, you probably know that you are taken out onto a pontoon in the middle of the ocean from where you can go snorkelling to see the awesome beauty of the Great Barrier Reef with its fanfare of beautiful coral and brightly coloured tropical fish.
But now you no longer have to leave at the end of the day. You can stay underwater at one of Cruise Whitsundays - Reefsuites. The suites have floor to ceiling views of this spectacular Great Barrier Reef. You can the sea creatures float past you while lying on your bed.
The suites will be open this summer (2019). This is how it works. You arrive at your unique accommodation via a scenic cruise through the Whitsundays Islands to the outer reef. You may have to book well in advance for this one as there are only two private, underwater rooms(king double or twin single options).
They are priced from $749 per person but include all your daily meals as well as morning and afternoon tea. The dinner is spectacular and on the deck under the stars. During the day you get a private guided snorkelling tour and a semi-submarine tour. If you would like more information head to their website click here.
But this is in swags so this is a step up in the comfort stakes. Or, should I say a number of steps down to your underwater location. To sleep underwater, you can register your interest by [LINK=https://cruisewhitsundays.com/special-offers/reefsuites-coming-soon/]clicking here.
