Tropical Escape
If something is true, it is that Australia has amazing beaches all along the coast (East, West, North, South). Each place has its own wonders, and fascinates for many different reasons… but Palm Cove in North Queensland is a completely different thing.
Just 30 minutes drive from Cairns airport, Palm Cove is a very relaxing small town by the sea, with a great variety of options to please your palate and your soul. With boutiques, galleries and world-class resorts, this village has a "Je ne sais quoi" that would make you day-dream of leaving everything behind and start a whole new relaxing life.
Just in front of the Coral Sea and surrounded by 500 years old paperbark Melaleuca trees, you'll find
The Reef House Resort & Spa, an iconic boutique hotel built in 1958 with a unique colonial style that will make you feel in a tropical paradise.
The Reef House
Rich in history and culture, The Reef House offers its guests much more than accommodation; it offers a relaxing and comforting experience for your tropical escapes. As you arrive, the Front Office staff offers you a welcome drink and cool towels infused with eucalyptus oil. Here is when you stop pinching yourself and start believing everything you have read about it, is true!
When you walk around this place, you feel you're in your own beach house. And that's a great feeling!

There's history all around the Reef House
The property is big enough to make you feel cosy and comfortable, with a small hot tub and two pools; the"Tranquility Pool" is just for adults and you'll be sunbathing next to a beautiful waterfall, surrounded by a tropical garden and the "Mineral Pool" that welcomes everybody. It has mineral salts and is between 28 C and 32 C degrees water temperature (depending on the season), which makes it pretty much a healer for your body and soul.

Thanks to the history behind, the "Brigadier's Bar" offers an honesty system, so you can help yourself with drinks and nibbles keeping the tradition of the Brigadier, The Hon. David Thomson, who acquired the property in 1970 and treated his visitors as personal guests. With many personalities visiting him from all parts of Australia, he used to gather everybody at the end of the day to share stories and lively conversation while enjoying some rum punch.

Punch Hour
Nowadays, every day at 5:00pm all guests at The Reef House enjoy the Brigadier's hour, where complimentary punch and canapés are offered to all for about one hour, and where you have the opportunity to ask Norm about the history of the place, or to chat with Wayne, the General Manager.
Next to the Brigadier's Bar is the Guest Lounge, equipped with complimentary vintage entertainment: board games, bikes, books & DVDs, fishing rods (and some other necessary fishing gear) in case you want to test your luck at the Jetty. By the way, if you catch something, the Chef will cook it for you!

The Reef House Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The view and the breeze from your table will make you forget about everything while enjoying fresh produce from North Queensland and Haute Cuisine quality dishes. My recommendation is their signature dish: Saltwater Barramundi in mild Thai red curry, braised pineapple & coconut pilaf. My mouth waters just remembering!

And to add some more deep relaxing experiences to your holidays; the multi-awarded Reef House Day Spa is the only one around to offer Phytomer treatments and products. Phytomer uses marine bio-technology that limits environmental impacts to preserve fragile marine ecosystems and it contains everything that is essential to the beauty and health of the skin. An appointment is essential and the spa menu goes from express mini massages, baby bliss and couple massages, to a whole real spa journey.
