U3A, short for the University of the Third Age, provides members, predominately retirees and seniors, with affordable education and the opportunity to study and learn in a relaxed environment. The U3A approach to instruction is informal and study groups are attended by an experienced tutor. There are no prerequisites required to join classes and no exams or formal assessments of students.
Redlands U3A provides activities and classes covering a range of different subjects including bush botany, psychology, photography and more. Go here for a more concise list of courses offered for Term1, 2018.
An enrolment day, called Connecting Seniors to Lifelong Learning, will be hosted by the U3A's Redlands branch at Faith Lutheran College on Friday, between 9am and noon on Friday, January 12. Faith Lutheran College is located at Beveridge Road, Thornlands. (L Block, Senior Campus).
Annual Membership $20 for singles and $35 for couples. Eftpos and Credit Card facilities will be available on the day.
When I retired for the second time I joined the Monday morning sessions of Life In Australia held at the Donald Simpson Centre in Cleveland. These involved fascinating talks by experts in their field from Professor Roly Sussex to journalist, Kathleen Noonan. I look forward to signing up once again when I next retire.

U3A is a grea concept. The saying "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" is being thrown to the winds as seniors demonstrate they are not only capable of continuing to learn but they still have quite an appetite for knowledge.
