If itís good enough for Gomez itís good enough for me
Do you remember Gomez Addams, patriarch of the Addams Family? Blowing up the bridge just as his model trains approached it was his favourite past time, though he was always thoughtful and would offer the dynamite plunger to visitors or other family members. Gomez used to say "why else would a grown man play with trains?"

Gomez Addams

Model Railroading is a hobby in which rail transport systems are modelled at a reduced scale. The scale models include locomotives, rolling stock, streetcars, tracks, signalling and landscapes including countryside, roads, bridges, buildings, vehicles, urban landscape, model figures, lights, and features such as rivers, hills, tunnels, and canyons.

There's something soothing about this hobby, and if it keeps a chappie away from the cricket on the television then it has to be a good thing. Don't you agree?

Why not learn more about this interest, and experience for yourself, the joy of model railways when the members of the Redlands Model Railway Group hold their annual show on Saturday, 24th of August, and Sunday, 25th of August.

This is a family-friendly event being held at the Cleveland Assembly Hall (next door to Cleveland High School) at 44 Smith Street, Cleveland. There will be model trains on display with a variety of layouts, as well as Trade Tables for those who feel trains are the equivalent to shoes for women. "My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my trains at the price that I told her I paid for them!"

Opening hours for this Show are as follows:
Saturday - 9am till 5pm
Sunday - 9am till 4pm

Entry fee is $7 for Adults, $5 for Concession, and Children and school age are free.

Worried about the kiddies getting bored? Don't be.

Redland Museum located right next door will not be charging an entry fee if you've paid to view the Model Railways. Bargain, especially for the younger ones as the Museum has a dedicated area for them to enjoy.

Pack a picnic and you can sit under the shade of the towering gums between venues or kick a ball or chase the magpies ( to wear the kiddies out.)

Off-street parking is available. Dynamite isn't.
