With the sweet twang of a banjo and the thump of a double bass, you'll believe you are in the deep south of America at the Redlands Bluegrass Festival , on from 13th-15th July.

Now in its 18th year, this unique festival boasts a great line-up of live music, great on-site accommodation deals, jam sessions and informative workshops. Situated among the bush land at the Kindilan Outdoor Education and Conference Centre , this country and bluegrass event will seem right at home.

With the backdrop of dense bush and a picturesque open lake, this venue at Redland Bay channels the feel of the everglades, putting you in the mood for bluegrass and country tunes. Only 40-45 minutes from the Brisbane CBD, it will be worth the short drive for a day or many accommodation options are available for a longer stay if the sound is 'music to your ears.'

Three different accommodation packages are available from complete weekend packages to one day passes. The Roundhouse package gets you a room that features great views, two single beds and linen as well as two full weekend passes.

The next step down is the dormitory option where you bunk in a room with four single beds, linen is BYO and includes a full weekend ticket. If getting amongst nature is more your style, then un-powered camping sites are available with full use of the amenities. Also full weekend passes, day passes and night time only tickets range from $30-$110, a small price to pay to enjoy some unique tunes and see top quality bands.



Country and bluegrass acts are coming from all around Australia brandishing fiddles, massive double basses, guitars and of course banjos galore. Hamilton Country Bluegrass Band is experienced when it comes to performing live. This New Zealand group has toured extensively with Slim Dusty in the past and all around Australia and New Zealand over the past three decades. Bluegrass Parkway will bring their 40s/50s swing style bluegrass sound to the Kindilan stage with smooth multiple part harmonies. Many more names are on this exclusive line-up including Davidson Brothers, Mustered Courage who fuse alternative music with bluegrass, the smooth vocals of Kristy Cox and local band, the Redlands Bluegrass Boys.

To learn how to create the charming sound of bluegrass or just brush up on your skills, instrument workshops will run throughout Saturday and Sunday. With lessons on the ukele, banjo, fiddle, double bass and even a gospel vocal workshop available, you'll be channeling the resonance of the deep south in no time.



For three days of twang, thumping and fast fiddles, jump on your airboat, watch out for 'gators,' and head along to the Redlands Bluegrass Festival presented by the Redlands Modern Country Music Club on July 13th-15th.
