Event:
Get out and smell the Roses And Koalas
Seniors Week, an annual event celebrated nationwide, starts on August 18th running right through till August 26th. Designed to connect communities, provide opportunities for people to share and learn new experiences, discover services and support, and assist in reducing social isolation events scheduled will appeal to all interests.

In the Redlands, in Queensland's South East Corner, our Seniors are extremely privileged to have an array of services to keep them connected, interested and involved.

One of the most popular events in the calendar is the Seniors Week Walk, promoting physical activity amongst our more mature members of the community.

Let's be honest: August is prime time for a twirl around the neighbourhood. The towering gums, wattle trees and rose bushes are all in flower, the locals are busy in their gardens preparing for Spring, and koalas are on the move. Summer in Queensland just does not encourage such pleasant meanderings, does it?

The Seniors Walk commences at 7am on Sunday, 19th August, at the parkland between the Donald Simpson Centre on Bloomfield Street and Wynyard Street.

Participants can opt to walk the 3, 5, 7.5, or 10 km circuit, though there is no pressure and you can turn around at any time.

This is no race nor time trial. It's about walking at your own pace, enjoying your neighbourhood and smelling the roses. Literally.

Marshalls will be located along the route and water stations are located at the 3, 5, 7.5 and 10 kilometre marks. Organisers have thought of everything with portaloos at the 5 and 7.5km marks.
