Seven-year-old Geula is everything to Menachem her father, a devout member of the Orthodox Jewish community. However, Geula needs medical treatment which the poorly paid widower simply can't afford. Desperate to raise funds he persuades friends from his rock 'n' roll past to reform the rock band he fronted in his early days, and play local simchas. However after many years, his friends and their ambitions have changed.
With an extraordinary and inventive soundtrack that elevates the daggiest of simcha music to rock 'n' roll cool, Redemption presents a moving and wholly unique story about unconditional parental love, the strength of male friendship, and the importance of inner integrity. This film won Best Actor and the Ecumenical Jury Prize at the 2018 Karlovy Vary Film Festival, and the Audience Award at the 2018 Jerusalem Film Festival.
