As a ridiculous lover of markets, I try and spend each weekend finding new ones and of course frequenting the ones I love. They are the best in every way from finding fresh produce, supporting local artists, and indulging in homemade food from all different cultures. It's a great way to support the local community while having a nice time out with vibrant, friendly crowds.

Located off the Redcliffe Jetty, The Redcliffe markets are hosted every Sunday from 8am- 2pm. They are located off the main road and have everything from delicious food to organic produce and designer clothing. Unlike most markets, these ones primarily focus on local crafts and retailers. Not to worry though. There are still a couple of booths that do provide a small selection of these items if needed.

As we walked through the stalls admiring their works, we stopped and picked up a few baked goods specially made for dogs that were owned by a local family. For food, we opted for some delicious crumbed calamari and homemade chips from the twisted squid. While it was a bit pricey for a market at $11, it was worth every penny and enough for my partner and I to share. Our food is about halfway eaten. We just couldn't wait. Having the ability to eat our treat on some lovely picnic tables overlooking the ocean was priceless.

Despite the distance from Brisbane, it's worth a treat to come down not only for the markets, but for all the other great things to enjoy while you are down here. Located on the major street are tonnes of cafes, restaurants, and retailers that also stay open allowing you the choice to sit down for a proper meal before or after and browsing the local shops when the markets end. The views are beautiful with the option to walk down the jetty or enjoy a nice stroll along the ocean. Last, but not least, you can take a walk down Bee Gee way learning about the history and revolution that the Bee Gees created sparking a world wide storm that all started in the local town of Redcliffe.

Whether it's a day trip or your passion for markets that bring you down, beautiful Redcliffe will make you want to stay and never go back. Can't wait to go back again and hope you all have the chance to see for yourselves.
