Sat 18 May 2013 - Sun 19 May 2013

The Redcliffe KiteFest is back and this year the festivities promise to be bigger and better than ever before.

A spectacular display of colourful kites will fill the skies at the annual KiteFest which will be held from Saturday 18 – Sunday 19 May 2013 at Pelican Park. For over 20 years KiteFest has been a major part of the Moreton Bay region community and this year new festival organisers, Our Village Foundation, have added many new features that will guarantee a memorable weekend for all.

Organisers are expecting crowds of over 20,000 and there will certainly be no shortage of entertainment and excitement to keep each and every one of them happy. Pelican Park will showcase kites of all shapes and sizes as well as a jam-packed program including spectacular sky shows from international kite flyers, four stages of entertainment and a mini Seafood and Wine festival.

Popular kite flyers from Australia and around the world will show their skills at the year's festival. International kite flyers include the USA/Canadian iQuad Stunt Team, Japanese Kite Master Mikio ToAki and New Zealand's Simon Chisnall.

If you can tear yourself away from the kite shows check out the festival markets with hundreds of specialty art and crafts stalls on display as well as gourmet food stalls, live entertainment, kite making workshops and amusement rides.

Be sure to catch Dora the Explorer on the festival's newly created Community Stage. Talented locals will also provide live entertainment throughout the weekend. As the sun sets on the first day of action at KiteFest, the fun will continue at the family friendly Saturday Night Concert hosted by Big Brother reality TV stars Ben and Stacey.

The concert will kick off from 5pm and will featuring Aussie tribute bands, ACCA/DACCA, Chisel Revived and the Ultimate Bee Gees show. A spectacular fireworks display will light the sky at 8pm to top off a perfect day out.

The festival will also provide a culinary feast for all as part of the mini Seafood & Wine Festival . Festival goers will be treated to a delicious array of seafood, wine, cheese and many other food varieties. Drop in and say hi to celebrity chef Huey, who will be cooking up a storm at the Seafood & Wine Kitchen and sharing his cooking tips and tricks.

Entry to the KiteFest is $5.00 per adult and $2.00 per child (16 years and under). Tickets can be purchased at the gate. The entry ticket will allow access to the entire festival over the weekend including the Saturday Night Concert and Seafood & Wine Festival.

The 2013 Redcliffe Kitefest has all the ingredients for the perfect weekend activity. There will be food, fun, fireworks, entertainment and best of all, a world class display of kite shows celebrating the beautiful art and creativity of kite flying.
