On Good Friday, the 6th of April, from 9am to 4pm, the Festival of Sails will be on again in Redcliffe. Suttons Beach, Marine Parade, becomes a seaside carnival annually (every Good Friday) to celebrate the time of Easter, and this year also celebrates the 64th Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race.
As well as displaying the usual market stalls that grace Marine Parade every Sunday for the Redcliffe Jetty Markets, the Festival of Sails will also host events, markets and rides such as: Canoeing Volleyball Easter-egg hunt Camel rides Free music
Bungy trampoline Rock climbing Tug of war (with Snap Fitness)
Punch and Judy Puppet Theatre
• LEGO building challenge
• Kite making
• African drumming workshops
As well as this, there will be roving entertainment in the form of Balloon Awesomeness, Stilt Walkers and Celtic Fusion. These activities and the programmed entertainment take place at scheduled times on either the beach, 'Village' stage, the southern lawn or along the main road, Marine Parade, where the markets are usually situated.
For the last few weeks, a brochure advertising the Redcliffe Festival of Sails has been in circulation at the Redcliffe Jetty Markets and will also be available on the day to allow festival-goers the opportunity to plan which activities/entertainment they want to partake in.
So, on Good Friday, the 6th of April, pack a family picnic and head to the Redcliffe Festival of Sails. Free parking is available at the Redcliffe Showgrounds, Scarborough Road, Redcliffe and a free shuttle bus will run continuously between the showgrounds and the Marine Parade festival site from 8:30am to 5pm.
