I have written about Redcliffe before and looked at its history, its development and what it has become. This article though will concentrate not so much on the information, as enticing you with your eyes to experience a well-known place just a little differently.
I travelled there by car as it was in the 50 kms from Brisbane limit.
It was busy. People were picnicking, families biking or rollerblading, strolling the beach, some were swimming and I chose to walk from Redcliffe Anzac Avenue to Margate. I walked past Comino's Arcade and down to Charlish Park, then onto Settlement Cove Lagoon and from there, to Suttons Beach and into Margate at Scott's Point Progress Park and back. Approximately 7.5 km.
The purpose, none other than to take in the sea air, admire the long line of Norfolk pines planted by the promenade casting their welcome shadow on the path, watching the delight of people feeling as if they could venture out tentatively but safely and above all, taking in the sheer beauty of the coastline.
There are plenty of opportunities along the way to help the economy back on its feet with fish and chips shops open and doing a good trade, and tourist shops and cafes also opening up.
