Oh my gosh, what a brilliant line-up of fun and excitement, and it's all happening over the weekend of 26 and 27 May 2018 at the 2018 Red Thunder Airshow, with a theme appropriately named "1950's Pinups and Hot Rods".
Whether you are a pilot, an aviation enthusiast or an adventurous family wanting to get out for a day and/or a weekend of superb entertainment, the totally unique Red Thunder Airshow is the one to attend, the one that will create memories to last a lifetime. The gates will open to the public at 8.00am every day, with the Airshow starting at 10.00am and promising non-stop action in the sky until 4.00pm.
Look out for some of the world's most famous warbirds, vintage, modern military machines, aerobatics, helicopters, formation aerobatics, skydiving, plus sport aircraft - a celebration of aviation prowess and guaranteed to give us all stiff necks by the end of the weekend. Enjoy the amazing feats performed by Australian Aerobatic Champion, Alan Kilpatrick as he performs in his DR-7 at the Red Thunder Airshow.
The aerial action is supported by world-class formation aerobatic team, 'Russian Roolettes', Australia's only five ship formation aerobatic team.

The Pinup Parade is an absolute highlight of the upcoming Red Thunder Airshow and is being held on the Sunday 27 May at noon. Australia's 'Hostess with the Mostess', Bettie Butcher will be presenting the not-to-be-missed parade.

The Red Thunder Airshow is definitely not going to forget about the youngest members of the family. If all the aircraft displays on the ground and in the air aren't enough to keep the young 'uns entertained, Red Thunder Airshow 2018 is featuring heaps of rides and activities at Thunder Park.

Children of all ages can join in the fun and excitement with slides, jumping castles, rides and activities.
Maybe you would like to introduce them to the miracle of flight and get airborne in a Open Cockpit biplane or helicopter, or even an adventure flight in a real fighter jet. The possibilities are endless at the Red Thunder Airshow.
Don't worry mum and dad, you can still enjoy the spectacular flying displays from the Thunder Park, which has been positioned right up close to all the action in the sky. At this stage the rides and activities for the Kids' Zone will include the following:

There is a heap load of information for visitors to the 2018 Red Thunder Airshow. To make your life and weekend easier, I have split up the different sections - just click the relevant highlighted link for more pertinent information.
I've saved the best for last! Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield has their very own large campervan and camping area on site at the airfield. For the very fortunate visitors who have their own aircraft (count me out on this one), camping beside their aircraft in designated aircraft parking areas is permitted. Pilots who wish to camp with their aircraft, are advised to seek out parking locations that will not restrict access to their camp site during air displays activities.

All camping spots will be allocated by Red Thunder staff on a first come, first served basis. If you wish to camp with friends, you must arrive together. Red Thunder staff will allocate to suit differing camping styles i.e. campervans and caravans may be separated from tents.
Fee $38.00 per night per site. Payment is made at the air show entry point or online here. For early arrivals, fees will be collected at the campsite;
Toilets with night time lighting are provided;
Maximum six people per site;
Showers with night time lighting are provided;
Cooking facilities are NOT provided;
Campers should use torch lighting when walking around at night; young children should not be allowed to stray from the camp site area without adult supervision;

Open fires on the ground are not permitted; small fires in approved metal fire pits are permitted and all fuel must be provided by the camper. Total fire ban rules must be obeyed.
Private portable generators are not permitted overnight between the hours of 7.00 pm and 6.00 am;
Aircraft pilots and passengers wishing to camp overnight must use the allocated camping area and pay the camping site fee;
Camping tickets must be tied to the star picket at each site and be clearly displayed;
Loud and unruly behaviour will not be tolerated and respect is to be shown for the privacy of fellow campers.
The airfield at Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield features three well formed grass runways suitable for almost all types of recreational aircraft. Please click here for all relevant information regarding 'flying in'; runway information etc. I'm not giving too much away here as, literally as planes fly overhead, the information that is pertinent to pilots is whoosh, way over my head!
