Red Theatricals has been in existence for three years, and run acting and performance classes for kids and teens aged 7 to 17. All classes are held at Templestowe Memorial Hall , 11-13 Anderson St, Templestowe. Check HERE for 2016 semester dates and you can contact them via [email protected] or on the mobile number listed above.

  • The Young Performance Course (primary school students aged 7-12) is held on Monday from 5pm to 6.30pm and Saturday 1pm to 2.30pm.
  • The Teen Performance Course (high school students aged 13-17) is held on Saturday from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
  • The Screen Acting Course (Class for ages 12-17) is held on Monday from 6.30pm to 8pm for seniors and Saturday from 11.30am to 1pm for juniors.

  • Owner and Teacher Rebecca Fortuna is an experienced drama coach, actress, writer, director and choreographer, with a passion for acting, performing and teaching. A well trained teacher for the last 11 years, she herself has been acting and dancing since she was 8 years old and is currently just as active in the industry. From commercials, new television series, and stage productions (most current, 'Fool for Love' and 'The Boys'), she debuted as a writer with her show 'Domestic Warfare' (and also starred in it) for the Melbourne Fringe Festival in 2013. Having seen Rebecca in both The Boys and Fool for Love, I had the opportunity to be privy to her powerhouse acting style, which I adore.

Driven by her passion for the performing arts, she absolutely loves teaching and helping develop the next generation of performers of stage, and the big and little screen. Previous students of hers have landed roles on shows such as Neighbours, Nowhere Boys and more. On that note, Rebecca's Young Performance classes focus on developing dance, singing and acting skills, giving the kids tools to become triple threats as a well-rounded performer. Students will work towards a musical performance at the end of each semester in a professional theatre.

The Teen Performance classes focus on developing more in-depth and advanced dance, singing and acting skills. Students will again work towards a full-scale musical performance just like the Young Performance students. The Teen Screen Acting classes concentrates on acting for television and film, and students will learn how to tailor their performance for the screen through script analysis, character development, and camera techniques. They'll receive a copy of a DVD containing their filmed scenes.

With Term 3 beginning on the 11th of July 2016, Red Theatricals is offering an obligation free trial class to new students, so they can see if they like the class before they join. Red is also doing Disney's The Little Mermaid this semester, with roles for all students from beginners to advanced. Costumes, props, sets, and microphones are all included. If you have a budding movie star wanting to perform in The Little Mermaid, be sure to contact Red to enrol as a student.
