A guaranteed belly filling, cheeky Chinese
Take a stroll down William Street and make sure you keep a look out, because you don't want to miss The Red Teapot.
This little gem in Northbridge has recently been taken over by new owners. They have changed up the original menu that boasted over 100 dishes, to now focus on a smaller selection of Northern Chinese cuisine as well as a few alternative Asian dishes.
This style of food sets it apart from many other Chinese restaurants and is authentically showcased with a heavy focus on wheat-flour foods, such as homemade noodles and steamed buns. Do try their pan-fried dumplings, which are a perfect sharing dish to start off your meal and sit a few notches higher in the spice level than most. You'll find that a lot of the classics are missing from this menu, but use it as an opportunity to try the lamb dishes that are plentiful which is unusual for many Chinese restaurants.
This cosy venue is always busy, but they try to accommodate everyone so be prepared to get up close and intimate with your neighbours. Perfect for an after work feast, another plus for The Red Teapot is its BYO policy. Or if you're feeling like a night in, you can still experience the generous portions from the comfort of your sofa, as takeaways are available too.
