Lick your spoon off as you savour the delightful food

I am a self-proclaimed foodie and delight myself in the simple pleasure of discovering foodie heaven. Oscar Wilde once said, "After a good dinner one can forgive anybody, even one's own relatives". My pursuit of delectable food recently took me to the doorstep of the Red Spoon Cafe Restaurant Lounge.

At the focal point of the Altona Meadows Shopping Centre, majestically lies the Red Spoon Cafe Restaurant Lounge.

As you will take your first tentative step inside this restaurant, you will be awed by the spacious size and the grandeur that lend this restaurant the allure of a grand and spectacular restaurant. You will be greeted by a friendly waiter or waitress who will immediately usher you to a table of your choice (availability permitting).

As you make yourself comfortable, you will be presented with a modest menu which offers a concise range of starters, seafood, salads, mains and drinks. There are even meal deals dedicated to the tastebuds of kids. And if you look around, you will find a specials board right next to the entrance, boldly proclaiming the highly attractive special meal deals of the day.

Once you have fought off all the indecision and desire to order everything on the menu because chances are that like me you would also be on the horns of dilemma about picking the most attractive items from the mouth-watering dishes on the menu, you can take a breather and pause to absorb your surroundings.

The wood tables are adorned with funky red candles. The chairs are polished wood and make quite comfortable seats. Huge, golden ornate framed mirrors hang from walls on one side while massive French windows on the other end lead to a cosy, external seating area. Enormous, glitzy chandeliers add to the flamboyance of this beautiful place. A large, heavily decorated, show-white Christmas tree at one corner of the premium bar/counter augment the ostentatious beauty of the entire place.

If you need ideas on commencing your delicious feast at this place, feel free to call upon the expertise of the smiley and friendly wait staff and you will be directed towards your preferred direction. Alternatively, you can adopt the following strategy in sampling some of the wonderful offerings of this awe-inspiring restaurant.

The Traditional Bruschetta layered with onion, tomato, feta cheese and greens makes a superb choice of starter. The greens, onion and tomato are absolutely fresh and suffuse your soul with a feeling of unrivalled rejuvenation while the feta cheese adds the slightly tangy taste of cheese. This fulsome and flavoursome starter will get your juices flowing for more of the good stuff.

The Eggplant Lasagna comes in a bowl. As promised by the description on the menu, this dish comprises of layers of eggplants cooked in fresh basil and napoli sauce while topped with drool-worthy melted mozzarella cheese. As you scoop up every spoonful of the lasagna, your mouth will water and your tongue will feverishly endeavour to distinguish between the various exquisite flavours.

For the mains, you can opt for the Glazed Duck Breast served with garlic infused mashed potato garnished with salad. The serving size is not big. But the small size is more than adequately compensated by the delicious, succulent duck breast meat and the tasty mashed potato. You can choose to swap the mashed potato for chips and the salad for veggies.

The Glazed Baby Back Pork Ribs served on creamy mashed potato garnished with salad definitely deserve a mention. The pork meat is tender and juicy and falls off the bones. The mashed potato has a lovely mild garlic taste while the accompanying salad is sizeable and flavoursome. The accompanying sauce charmingly complements the pork ribs and the mashed potato.

Soon enough you will be too full to finish off the entire feast. However, there is a possibility that your greedy tastebuds will endeavour to polish off every little morsel of the delectable dishes.

Delicious food, mellow vibe, excellent ambiance, spacious surroundings and lovely service ensures that you can have a romantic dinner with the significant other or enjoy a tasty bite or two with family and friends. Red Spoon indubitably covers all the bases from providing contemporary, delicious food to sophisticated dining environment to great service.
