Have you ever driven past a place and thought: "I really must stop and have coffee there one day"? Well, we have done just that while driving passed the
Red Shed Palazzo on the corner of Karaka and Jesmond Road in Karaka.

There were always lots of cars parked outside and my partner and I thought they must serve yummy food to attract the crowds. So today we decided we were going to taste the goodies being served at this, obviously, popular little place.
To enter, you walk through a gate on the side decorated with fabulous paintings on corrugated iron panels. That's right up my alley, so I already liked the place.

The inside seating was almost to capacity, but as it was a lovely day, we wanted to sit outside and enjoy the Spring sunshine. We placed our order for cappuccino and I ordered a slice of Chocolate and Banana cake. I had never tried it before, but am always game to try something new.

The garden is divided up into separate little areas, so the tables aren't crammed one on top of the other. We had our own little secluded spot under the vines. Come summer, I can see this garden being even more beautiful than it already is.

Our
coffee and cake arrived and they were both delicious. The cake was so decadently rich that my little tummy was saying it was full and my brain was saying - Tough, find some room, we are NOT leaving a morsel on this plate. So my tummy did as it was told, and found some room.

They won the Best Rural Cafe Award for 2016, which is, in my opinion, well deserved. I will definitely be visiting this little, hidden gem again very soon.

is open for breakfast and lunch, 7 days per week from 8.30am to 4.00pm. It is fully licensed and can cater for weddings, birthdays or any special occasion.
