One of my favourite places to take a break while enjoying beautiful Leura Mall is The Red Door. I love just sitting on a stool in the window, looking out onto the pretty tree-lined street and just watching the world go by...
Upon arriving at the The Red Door, you're greeted with - surprise surprise - a red door. Inside, you'll find an eclectic mix with a modern red, black and white interior and assortment of art on the walls, including Hindu paintings. At times, you may even find a jar of dog biscuits on the front counter.
The food at The Red Door is good - both in terms of value and taste. The menu has a vegetarian slant, though also includes non-vegetarian options and a range of Gluten-free options.
The All-Day Breakfast options include:
Organic Bircher Museli with granny smiths, raisins, almonds and honey ($9.90)
Porridge with Rhubarb, cinnamon and brown sugar ($9)
French Toast with fresh strawberries and maple syrup (give this a Canadian twist by adding a side of bacon) ($10.50)
A selection of eggs and omelets ($9-$14.50)
For lunch, you can choose from options such as:
Zucchini and feta fritters with cumin yoghurt and mesclun salad ($15.50)
Roast pumpkin, chickpea, radicchio, rocket, dukkah and walnut salad ($15.50)
Vegetable burger with peanut sauce and salad ($15.50)
Tuscan stye sausages and creamy mashed potato with caramelised onion and red wine jus ($17.50)
Sirloin Steak Sandwich with beetroot relish, caraelised onion, rocket, fresh tomato and horseradish cream ($17.50)
A selection of baguettes and toasted turkish sandwiches ($13.50-$15)
We opted for the Roast Pumpkin Salad and a Chicken and Avocado Toasted Sandwich. I don't normally order pumpkin, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect - but I didn't regret my choice as the combination of flavours and textures was a real delight. The toasted sandwich was just that, with nothing that really made it stand out.

The Red Door use an organic blend of coffee, La Luna, which is well-balanced and robust. If you're not in the mood for a meal, it's definitely worth stopping in just for a coffee ($3.50, or a bowl for $4.20).
In addition to the indoor seating, The Red Door also has outdoor seating in a shaded outdoor terrace which you can enter either through the cafe or directly from the main street.
