When you die, if you get a choice between going to regular heaven and pie heaven, choose pie heaven. It might be a trick, but if it's not, mmmmmmm boy."

Over the weekend, my friends and I got a peek into pie heaven and were sent back to report to all and sundry that indeed, the pie gods are displeased by our utter ignorance of the location of their head office. Not to worry though, ours is a message of hope. It is never too late to walk into the Red Door Bakery in Croydon.
I dare say that through these doors, I have found the secret ingredient to that elusive only-grandma-could-bake-such-delightful-treats, mouth-watering, pastry crumbling, freshly made and lovingly prepared pies. A family owned business, Red Door Bakery's homely and relaxed atmosphere is exactly what you would need after a week of pretentious seriousness that the world has forced upon us.
The real difference lies in the hands of the owners, Emma and Gareth Gierson. All pies are made from scratch, all ingredients fresh and baked in-store. There are daily specials too, which vary from day to day, so you will be spoilt for choice.
A wide selection of pastries is available, alongside tasty pizza slices and freshly made bread.
Give nan a break this weekend, and take her along to the Red Door Bakery. I'm not sure if they will share their recipes, but I can guarantee the pie gods will be pleased.
